Rapid Pitch
Rapid Pitch is an event where 5 teams are chosen to pitch their business idea and win up to $500 in order to help an early-stage company go forward.
I originally was not going to apply for this event, I thought that I was not ready, that I didn’t have enough to prove my company. Eventually I was convinced by two people who believed that I’d be able to turn this dream into reality. They gave me the push I needed to do the event, so I applied.
When I got accepted into the event, I was elated and I could not believe I was chosen. I started to do all the things that needed to be done before the event and practiced my pitch. I was terrified about going up to present in front of everyone, so I practiced before the occasion.
On the day of the event, I arrived early to set up my table with all the information for people to reach out, give suggestions, or keep up with the progress made in the future. The event consisted of each team giving 5-minute speeches and then answering 5-minutes of questions. After all the teams' completed their speeches and questions, everyone then moved into the next room, where tabling begins.
Tabling is where the teams and other perspective companies come together in a room to explain their ideas to anyone who comes up to their table.
Tabling was an amazing experience. I was able to talk to people interested in our product or just walking around. I was able to get advice, suggestions, and get people that want to follow the progress. During tabling, the judges of the event were deliberating how much money each team was going to get based off what they asked for. Luz Estelar was able to get $440 out of the $500 asked for. These funds went to the building our porotypes and our tools.
